Q&A
- WHAT AGE ARE THESE CLASSES FOR? There is no specific age limit, however many classes do require fine motor skills and safety adherence. The classes are best suited for ages 8+
- HOW LONG ARE THE CLASSES? Each class (“adventure”) is scheduled for two hours to give plenty of time for creativity. If we finish early, we have games to play and ideas to sketch.
- WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING? Bring a water bottle & a snack. An up-cycled apron will be provided to each student, but you are welcome to bring your own 100% cotton apron if desired. All other supplies are included, but you may also want to consider bringing cash for the “S’more Store” which will have items such as hats, patches, snacks, and other goodies for optional purchase.
- CAN WE DONATE SUPPLIES? Yes, please! Donations of the following supplies are greatly appreciated (used is fine!):
- Sketching pencils
- Block printing ink (fabric)
- Ink rollers **
- Linocut rubber **
- Fabric scissors **
- Seam rippers
- Rulers
- Twine
- Decorative tape (ex. washi)
- Masking tape
- Yarn needles
- Double-sided iron-on adhesive
- Tracing paper
- Protective gloves and/or leather thimbles
- Wool roving **
- Needle-felting needles & handles **
- Embroidery needles **
- Embroidery floss
- Tote bags
- Fabric markers (thin line preference)
- Fabric paint
- Paint Brushes
- Deep frames (plaque/wood-board craft frames) **
- Clear Hot Glue & hot glue guns
- Plain colored hats
- 100% cotton/wool fabric or clothing (holes are okay!)
- WHAT IS THE CLASS SIZE? I prioritize small class sizes. Most classes will have 4-6 students.
- WHAT IS COVERED IN EACH CLASS? Prior to each class there will be optional “backroad” recommended field trips and experiences to enhance the class (for example, visiting a library before our book binding class). Each class will begin with 1-3 get-to-know you “Compass Questions” relating to the theme (for example on adventure 6: “What is something wonderful you noticed this week?”). We will then cover any background, history, and safety information. The bulk of the class will be diving into the creative process. If we wrap up early, we will spend the final part of the class doing up-cycle themed games or sketching ideas for the next adventure.
